CCRC PISTOL TEAM

Pistol Team competitions are held indoors during the winter months and are open to anyone 14 and above. Men, women, and the handicapped, of all ages and abilities, can enjoy this sport. The team meets in a different location each week no more than an hour away, to compete against another team from the league. Matches are held Thursday evenings from late November to end of March. Currently, there are 18 matches in the season.

Individual scores are kept for each participant, with the top four scores recorded as the Team Score. Because only the four highest scores are used as Team Score, everyone who participates can have a great time no matter how well they shoot. Pistols used are all .22 caliber with red dot sights or iron sights. Representative brands are everything from Hammerli, Benelli and Pardini, to High Standard, Sig Sauer and Ruger.

There is also a League match held near the end of the season where all teams compete against each other during one full day of competition, with individual scores and team scores recorded. Awards are given at the end of the season at the Annual Awards Banquet for high scorers, most improved, etc.

Once a year, usually in February, there is an NRA sectional match held in Jackson for anyone interested in participating.

All you need to compete is a pistol, ammo, eye and ear protection, and a willingness to have a lot of fun and meet new people.

CCRC MEMBER SETS SEVERAL
STATE AND NATIONAL RECORDS

This past sping, CCRC member Judy Tant set several
state and national records. At the 2003 Michigan State
Indoor Pistol Championship, hosted by the Taylor
Pistol Club, April 25-27, she set the National Indoor
25-Yard Women’s Record for aggregate score, with
2599-89X (out of 2700). This was also her personal
best score to date. In addition, Judy set the national
women’s record for the .45 slow fire portion of the
match with 195-4X (out of 200). This score put her in
third place overall in the state, and gave her the
High Woman award. First place winner was Ron Zalewski
with 2612-110X, and second place was Chuck Vandenberg
with 2607-95X. The course of fire for this match is
270 rounds divided between .22 caliber, center fire,

Earlier in April, at the Ohio State Indoor
Championship in Oak Harbor, she again took the High

National Indoor 50-Yard Women’s Record for slow fire
(183-3X) in the center fire portion of the match.

Judy shot both matches with a Hammerli 208s for the
.22 caliber stages, and a new custom 1911-style .45

center fire and .45 caliber stages. These four-hour
matches are fired at turning targets for the timed and
rapid fire portions of the competition.
